Choosing the correct law firm at which to serve your articles is an integral part of acquiring the knowledge and skills required to become an exceptional attorney. For this reason it is of the utmost importance that you exercise this choice wisely and with the utmost care. As one of Pretoria’s oldest and most respected law firms, Weavind provides a unique opportunity to aspiring attorneys to build a solid platform from which to launch their legal careers and would be an excellent choice for any prospective attorney.
As a recently admitted attorney and notary, currently employed as a professional assistant within our firm’s commercial law department, I can attest to the emphasis the firm places on nurturing the knowledge and skills of each of our candidate attorneys whilst simultaneously affording them the opportunity to gain the maximum amount of exposure to various facets of the legal profession.
Upon commencing your two-year period of articles at Weavind, you will be assigned to the mentorship of an experienced attorney for a period of six months which will be followed by three rotations in various legal practice areas over the two-year period. During each rotation you will be assigned to a different practice area, providing you with invaluable exposure to a wide array of legal disciplines ranging from Family law to Commercial Litigation.
Each attorney who oversees you during this period of mentorship takes careful care to provide candidate attorneys with the opportunity to gain the maximum amount of involvement in their respective practices. This allows candidate attorneys to apply themselves fully in their legal development and to become a vital cog in the machinery which strives to provide our clients with exceptional service by continually supplying them with expeditious, cost-effective and innovative legal solutions.
In addition, training and development is a continual process at our firm. Our experienced attorneys host periodic in-house training and thoroughly encourage any pursuit aimed at career development. It certainly isn’t all work and no play either. We place massive emphasis on team spirit and social interaction outside of the workplace. Over the course of the last two years, our candidate attorneys have formed various teams which have seen them participate in inter alia action-netball, action-cricket, touch-rugby and volleyball leagues.
The theoretical knowledge you have acquired at tertiary education level will stand you in good stead, but we truly believe that the practical experience gained from your two-year period of articles is what will truly provide you with the opportunity to become an exceptional attorney.
This is the firm for you if you are a dynamic problem solver with an infectious curiosity and an ability to absorb knowledge at a rapid rate so as to apply it to the countless real-life problems that you will be faced with on a daily basis.
