Yolanda Viviers

Yolanda articled at Weavind & Weavind and after her admission as an attorney in 2004, was appointed as an Associate and practises in the conveyancing department.

She is a keen cyclist, having completed many Cape Argus and other cycle races, including a cycle tour from Cape Aghulhas to Pretoria in 2005. Yolanda is also passionate about the outdoors, wildlife and travelling. Her travels have led her to England, Germany, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Austria, Israel, Egypt and Namibia.

Yolanda practises in our conveyancing department where she attends to conveyancing related matters including transfers (which includes Sheriff, Insolvent Estate, Deceased Estate and Bank assisted transfers), registration of Bonds, Sectional Title Schemes, acts as a local correspondent for numerous law firms, attends to the drafting and notarising of Notarial documents and also attends to the execution of Deeds at the Pretoria Deeds Office.

Niel Cloete

Niel joined Weavind in 2010 as a candidate attorney after having completed his BComm LLB degree at the University of Pretoria in 2009. He quickly proved more than his worth and before completing his articles became an Associate in the General Litigation department which position he currently still holds.

Riette van der Merwe

Riette is a proud South African who loves our country, its people and the beautiful nature.  She therefore spends most of her free time in the bushveld hiking, off-road motor biking and exploring the “off the beaten track” locations of our continent with her husband.  When in the mood for some laid-back relaxing a good book is always good company and Bootcamp is her favourite way to rid herself of everyday stress.

Areas of specialisation

Riette specialises in litigation with specific focus on engineering, construction related disputes as well as banking and credit law. She also regularly acts as instructing attorney in arbitration and litigation matters on behalf of consultants involving engineering and construction disputes.

Riette has extensive experience in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution processes and is well versed in conditions of contract applicable to construction and engineering related matters nationally and internationally including the complex nature of the contractual relationships between the employer, engineer and contractor.
Thuso Mathulwe
(LLB (UP))

Thuso is a very dynamic and hardworking individual, who first joined Weavind & Weavind for vacation work in 2008 and has since worked his way up from Candidate Attorney to Associate.

He is an avid reader and dedicated soccer fanatic, who is not so bad himself on the pitch. His passion for travelling has taken him to Germany, Poland, France, England, Tanzania and Lesotho.

Areas of specialisation

Thuso deals with a variety of litigious matters ranging from commercial disputes to debt collection proceedings. In addition thereto he has gained expertise in large scale commercial projects related to both national and multi-national clients. He also adds valuable experience in building relations and interacting with all three spheres of government.
Ulrich Fobian

Ulrich articled at Weavind & Weavind and was admitted in 2014 as an Associate in the commercial department. 
He advises on labour law, the various ever-changing legal aspects and consequences of social media and consults on various commercial transactions.
He is a director of SAMLA (the South African Medico Legal Association), a keen trail runner and songwriter (having won various competitions).

Thato Lepinka

Thato is a polyglot, fluent in Afrikaans, English, Setswana, Sepedi and isiZulu. He matriculated from Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool (“Affies”) in 2009, where he played rugby, waterpolo and was a member of the Affies Boys Choir that scored cum laude at the 5th World Choir games in Graz Austria in 2008. He enjoys sports and is undertaking serious work on his golf swing.
Thato‘s professional tenure at the firm commenced when he enrolled for vacation work at Weavind & Weavind in 2012 whilst undertaking his LLB degree at the University of Pretoria. He subsequently completed his articles of clerkship at the firm and worked his way up the ranks to the position of Associate in the commercial department.

Gerhard van Biljon
(BSc Biotechnology; LLB)

Gerhard joined Weavind in 2014 as a candidate attorney after completing his LLB degree at the University of Pretoria in 2013. Prior to venturing into the field of law he completed a BSc Biotechnology degree (2009). He quickly found his place in litigation and before completing his articles became an Associate in the General Litigation department dealing mainly with insurance claims and liabilities, which position he currently still holds.

Areas of specialisation

Gerhard assists clients with various litigation disputes, however he mainly focusses on insurance matters, more specifically, insurance matters dealing with motor vehicle collisions. 
In light of his background in science, Gerhard is currently busy with the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law exams in anticipation of becoming a Patent Attorney.
Marthinus Uys

Marthinus started his legal career at an established firm of attorneys in Pretoria in 2006 as a student trainee, and later candidate attorney, whilst completing his B.Comm and LLB degrees at the University of Pretoria. Marthinus simultaneously completed his studies and articles at the end of 2009 and was admitted as an attorney, notary and conveyancer in 2010. He enjoys nature and is a keen sportsman having played premier league club cricket and varsity rugby during his studies and still maintains a low single-figure golf handicap. Marthinus joined Weavind & Weavind in April 2017.

Since his admission, Marthinus was appointed has head of a conveyancing department where he specialised in township establishment, opening of sectional title registers, residential developments, registration of various notarial deeds and servitudes as well as other complex conveyancing matters countrywide. Marthinus has been involved with the successful establishment of numerous retirement villages and currently focuses on residential developments undertaken by reputable developers in the property market.
